Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our performance gear
How do I choose the right spike length for my event?
Generally, 6mm (1/4") pyramid spikes are standard for track surfaces. For cross country, 9mm or 12mm spikes provide better traction on grass and mud. Always check your specific meet regulations.
Are your track spikes sold in pairs?
Yes, all track spikes and field event shoes are sold as a complete pair. Replacement spike pins are typically sold in packs of 12 or 24.
Do TrackSpikes come with a spike wrench?
Most of our high-performance models include a complimentary spike wrench and a set of standard pyramid spikes in the box.
How should track spikes fit compared to running shoes?
Track spikes should fit snugly, like a second skin, to prevent foot slide during explosive movements. We often recommend sizing down a half-size from your standard trainer for a competitive fit.
Can I use these spikes on all-weather tracks?
Yes, our spikes are designed for modern synthetic all-weather tracks. We recommend using pyramid or needle spikes to avoid damaging the track surface.
How often should I replace my spike pins?
We recommend inspecting your pins before every meet. Replace them once the points become blunt or worn down to ensure maximum grip and safety.
